Šos elementus matemātiski apraksta ar stinguma matricu, kur tabulas veidā ir dotas elementa reakcijas katrā mezgla punktā un pārvietojumi. Pēc šāda principa darbojas visas GEM aprēķinu datorprogrammas un rezultāti identiskos diskretizētajos modeļos ir tuvu kļūdas robežai[18].
Savā pētījumā ar datorprogrammu SolidWorks divriteņa rāmim izmantoju kombinēto tīklojuma veidu, kur divriteņa rāmja caurules veidotas ar čaulas tipa galīgo elementu tīklojuma veidu (shellmesh) (attēls 5.1.) un vietās, kur stiprinās un montējās citi savienojumi, un nepieciešams biezāks materiāls ar cietu ķermeņu tīklojuma veidu (solidmesh) (attēls 5.2.).
